ENTERPRISE REMOTE ACCESS
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) combines authentication, tunneling, access control and encryption technologies to carry data securely over insecure networks such as the Internet or wireless LANs. The most popular use of VPNs is to provide secure remote access to private networks. Remote access allows your sales force to work effectively away from the office. Your engineering staff can be available from home for quick feature enhancements or bug fixes. Management can acquire instant answers from anywhere with an Internet connection.

POWERFUL FUNCTIONALITY
The Celestix RAS appliance can authenticate users directly against either Active Directory or an NT Domain Controller and works in concert with other services in the network such as DHCP (for client IP address assignment), Dynamic DNS, WINS (for hostname resolution) and Windows Management Instrumentation (for extensible administration). This seamless integration with the enterprise Windows backend infrastructure simplifies management, reduces costs and provides for a more secure solution.

The RAS3000 utilizes an event-driven model (versus logging) that allows monitoring and generation of real-time events. These events are stored in a common database that is used to provide alerting functionality, historical reporting (at both server and user level) and graphical trend analysis.

FLEXIBILITY
To overcome the security weaknesses in wireless networks, you can use the Celestix RAS appliance to be the gatekeeper between wired and wireless networks. Also, within the enterprise certain sensitive LAN segments (e.g. finance), can be protected using the RAS3000. Users residing on other LAN segments will be authenticated before access is provided to the secured LAN.

The Celestix RAS3000 supports multiple remote access VPN protocols (PPTP and L2TP/IPSec) simultaneously. This makes it easy for the enterprise to support end-users with wide ranging client operating systems (Windows 95/98/NT/Me/2000/2003/XP, and PocketPC 2002/2003).

The server appliance is versatile because it can be deployed in any type of network. It can be placed behind or parallel to the firewall in either single or dual DMZ networks.

SIMPLIFIED SETUP AND MANAGEMENT
The Celestix RAS Appliance comes as a space-saving 1U machine that can easily be rackmounted. The web-based user interface can be used to setup and manage the appliance from any remote workstation. The Quick Setup process speeds up setup and installation by walking the user through the initial configuration of the device.

Administrators can choose to use the intrinsic Windows VPN client, or they can provide a client for novice users. This optional client is generated by using the Connection Manager wizard, which takes enterprise settings and client enforcement policies and creates a small downloadable program. This can then be installed by the end-user to configure their Windows VPN client. After the client is ready, enabling the user for remote access VPN usage simply involves giving the user dial-in permission in NT Domain or Active Directory.

OUTSTANDING VALUE
The RAS 3000 is a composite of sophisticated software enhancements to the Windows Server 2003 VPN environment tightly integrated with a high performance, streamlined appliance hardware that offers maximum dependability and simplified maintenance. No remote access client licenses are required so you can scale your operation up to 1,000 simultaneous VPN connection without any additional cost. The management software is also part of the product, which includes real-time monitoring, intelligent alerting, and historical reporting.
