Celestix Now Shipping Network-Security Appliances based on Hydrusª and Pyxisª Platforms

Next-generation security platforms reduce cost, boost performance

FREMONT, Calif., December 10, 2008 – Celestix Networks has begun worldwide shipments of network-security appliances based on their new Pyxisª and Hydrusª hardware platforms. Celestix designed the new hardware platforms to raise the performance of network-security applications, which lowers per-user costs of providing security for large enterprise IT networks.

Celestix bases Hydrus and Pyxis (pronounced pĭk'sĭs) architectures around IntelÕs latest generation of Xeon¨ processors to boost the performance of network-security applications. Celestix appliance platforms deploy network applications such as Microsoft ISA Server 2006 and Microsoft IAG 2007 as well as Websense content filtering, Kaspersky antivirus and other core-security functions.

Hydrus, designed for security deployments at large enterprises, employs IntelÕs highest-performance components including Quad-core Xeon¨ processor 5400 Series CPUs on a 1333MHz frontside bus for high-capacity memory access.

Pyxis hardware employs the Dual-Core Intel¨ Xeon¨ 3000 Series processors. A 3210 System Controller chip provides a 1333MHz FSB to scale high-speed security to mid-sized enterprises.

ÒIn the current uncertain economic climate, we feel it is critical to help enterprises retain profits by improving the performance of network-security hardware to service more users while keeping down hardware costs. Appliances based on these new platforms are the best way for network architects to improve security while reducing costs for better retained profits,Ó stated Neil Matz, vice president of product management at Celestix.

Hydrus hardware integrates with Microsoft ISA Server 2006 and Celestix SlingSHOTª appliance engine to create MSA8000 security appliances. Hydrus and SlingSHOT combine with Microsoft IAG software to create Celestix WSA8000 SSL VPN appliances. Pyxis hardware goes into MSA5000, MSA6000, and WSA6000 appliances.
